Do any of y’all remember Australian diver Matthew Mitcham?

He was the only non-Chinese diver to win a Gold Medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing… not only that, but he’s openly gay and NBC “conveniently” neglected to share that part of his inspiring story during their Olympic coverage.

Shame on NBC!!! But that’s old news anyway…

While Mitcham still doesn’t seem to have a major sponsorship or endorsement deal (unlike American swimming stud like Michael Phelps), he has taken a big step in that direction signing with Grand Slam International for exclusive management and marketing representation.

According to Mitcham:

Winning gold in Beijing was an amazing experience for me. I’ve been overwhelmed with the public’s response to my achievement and am looking forward to the road ahead,” Matthew said. “Grand Slam International represents many of Australia’s leading sports stars, helping them successfully manage their careers both in and out of the athletic arena. I look forward to working with GSI on some exciting initiatives.

Among the other athletes represented by GSI is Olympic swimming champion Ian Thorpe.

With GSI now representing him, we don’t envision how Mitcham will be left without a lucrative deal in the very near future.

Rumor has it that AussieBum Underwear wants him as their poster boy… stay tuned!
